Mary O’Connor earned an Excelsior College Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1994, a Master of Science in nursing from Northeastern University in 1997 and a PhD from George Mason university in 2005. Currently, Dr. O'Connor teaches RN, BSN, and MSN courses at the Notre Dame of Maryland University. She also works in nursing administration as the nursing supervisor at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
Dr. O’Connor has published extensively on the subject of nursing leadership in journals such as Journal of Nursing Administration, Nursing Administration Quarterly, Nurse Leader, and Nursing Forum. She has been a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Mu Eta and Tau Kappa Chapter, since 1996 and is also actively involved in a variety of professional organizations at the national and local level, including the Center for Nursing Leadership and the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Her many awards and honors include the 2004 Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing Research Award.
