William Cox

William E. Cox is president and cofounder of Cox, Matthews and Associates Inc., a Fairfax, Virginia, firm specializing in publishing, satellite television production, training, education, and consulting. He is the president and managing editor of the company's bimonthly national news magazine, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.

Cox is an established authority on developing policy and procedures for counseling services. He has conducted higher education programs for the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. A former member of the advisory board of the National Council for Education and Human Development at The George Washington University, he has served as chair of the Lifelong Education Advisory Board at Harvard University and the American Counseling Association Foundation. Cox is a life member of both the NAACP and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

He earned a doctorate in higher education administration from The George Washington University, two master's degrees (in counseling psychology and in public administration) from Ball State University, and a bachelor's degree from Alabama A&M University.

Jean Smith

Formerly vice president of Chase Community Development Corporation, Jean M. Smith has worked in the banking and financial industry since 1978. She has held various positions, including management of the flagship branch of Chase Manhattan Bank and management of 22 branches in the Chase retail branch network. She is a member of several professional associations, including Women in Housing and Finance, Urban Bankers, and the Coalition of 100 Black Women.

Smith's community service includes involvement with the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SOBRO), the Madison Avenue Boys and Girls Club, and the Rose F. Kennedy Family Center. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business administration from Fordham University and completed the Smith Management Program at Smith College.

Lawrence Vertucci

Lawrence E. Vertucci previously held the position of executive vice president and regional president of the Capital Region for HSBC Bank. In this capacity, he was responsible for the management and direction of the bank's consumer and commercial business in the greater Albany, New York, area and the Hudson Valley region to the New Jersey border. Formerly known locally as Marine Midland Bank, HSBC is one of the world's largest banking and financial services organizations. He previously served as senior vice president with Cayuga Bank, Auburn, New York.

Vertucci has been a board member for the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce; the Poughkeepsie Partnership; Boy Scouts of America, Twin Rivers Council; and the New York State Museum Institute. He was also a member of the Russell Sage President's Council.

Vertucci is a graduate of Siena College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in finance.

John Wetsch

John R. Wetsch is responsible for supporting the complete application portfolio of the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Previously, he served as the program director for the North Carolina Window of Information on Student Education (NC WISE) program for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, where he managed the $200-plus million initiative by the state of North Carolina to overhaul the student information IT infrastructure of its public school system.
