As an Excelsior College bachelor's level nuclear engineering technology graduate, within a few years of graduation, you are expected to:

Assessment Methodology

The achievement of program outcomes is assessed through various measures. Specifically, four metrics are used to measure the achievement of program (student) outcomes:

Direct Measure 1: The percentage of the NUC 495 students who receives a grade of 2 or higher on the learning statements and supporting evidence for the designate program (student) outcome.

Direct Measures 2a & 2b: The percentage of the students who receive a grade of B or higher on two selected course embedded assessments that measure the related program (student) outcome.

Indirect Measure 1: The mean of the graduates' perceptions of their achievement of the related program (student) outcomes (data collected from the exit survey).

Indirect Measure 2 (Reference): The mean of the graduates' perceptions of their achievement of the related program (student) outcomes (data collected from the one-year survey). It is noted, as stated in the assessment plan, the results of the one year post-graduation survey is used as a reference to provide a longitudinal perspective on students' attainment of program (student) outcomes will not be used as the a valid measure of program (student) outcome attainment.

Highly Achieved:

- 85% or more of NUC 495 students will receive a grade of 2 (out of 3) or better on the final learning statement for the designated program (student) outcome.
- 85% or more of students will receive a grade of B or better on two selected course embedded assessments that measure the related program (student) outcome.
- From the results of the exit survey, the mean of the graduates' perceptions of their achievement of the related program (student) outcomes will be 5 or higher on a 6-point Likert-scale.
- From the results of the one-year post graduate survey, the mean of the graduates' perceptions of their achievement of the related program (student) outcome will be 5 or higher on a 6-point Likert-scale.

Meets Standard:

- 70% to 84% of NUC 495 students will receive a grade of 2 (out of 3) or better on the final learning statement for the designated program (student) outcome.
- 70% to 84% of students will receive a grade of B or better on two selected course embedded assessments that measure the related program (student) outcome.
- From the results of the exit survey, the mean of the graduates' perceptions of their achievement of the related program (student) outcome will be 4 or higher on a 6-point Likert-scale.

#### Capstone exam RESULTS

A comprehensive capstone examination has been administered to all baccalaureate degree students at the conclusion of the NUC 495 Integrated Technology Assessment since September 2010. The capstone examination consists of 120 objective questions that assess the most common and most important topics and skills in seven core content areas within the College's baccalaureate degree nuclear engineering technology curriculum.

From May 2012 term to Mar 2013 term, the total number of students who took the capstone exam was 198. The overall average is 68.5%. The mean of correctness in each core concept is shown below:

- 67.6% - Basic Natural Sciences
- 48.3% - Experimentation and Lab Techniques
- 76.0% - Basic Mathematics and Applications
- 60.3% - Technical Problem Solving and Computer Usage
- 55.9% - Basic Nuclear Reactor Theory and Technology
