Albany Business Review Recognizes Excelsior College as “Best Place to Work”

Best Places to Work LogoAlbany, N.Y. (November 2, 2011) – Excelsior College has been named as one of the “Best Places to Work” in the New York State Capital Region by the Albany Business Review, the area’s top metropolitan business journal.

Since 2005, the award has recognized companies that go beyond the norm to foster an enjoyable and meaningful work environment for their employees. The results were based on an anonymous Business Review survey of Excelsior’s internal staff conducted by third-party Quantum Market Research of Wichita, Kansas. The survey measured employee retention, managerial effectiveness, goal alignment and trust between co-workers, among other factors.

"For forty years we’ve considered Excelsior College not just a workplace, but a community of individuals striving towards a common goal, challenging one another and helping each other along the way," said Dr. John F. Ebersole, President of Excelsior College. "It's an honor to be named as one of the 'Best Places to Work' and we will continue as an institution to live up to that tradition."

Excelsior, a nonprofit distance learning institution serving 32,000 students in higher education, is one of only six organizations with 400 or more employees to earn the coveted designation this year. More than three hundred companies participated in the survey this year seeking the "Best Places to Work” designation.

Excelsior and the other winners will be honored by the Albany Business Review at a luncheon on Friday, December 2, 2011.
