| | Course ExtensionsStatement of PolicyExcelsior College recognizes that the student populations we serve may have competing priorities and responsibilities. In order to support students in this situation, Excelsior College offers extensions when appropriate. ProcedureStudents taking Excelsior College courses who require an extension must submit a request to their instructor no later than two weeks prior to the course end date. Students must have successfully completed 50 percent of the course work prior to requesting an extension. If there are extenuating circumstances, faculty may grant a student’s request for an extension. Faculty are expected to honor any extension approved on the basis of the Military Deployment policy. When an extension is granted for an Excelsior College course, an “I” grade will be assigned and the student will be required to complete the course within a mutually agreed upon time frame, which is determined by the student and faculty member, but does not exceed 60 days from the last day of the term to complete the course. Instructors may grant one additional extension which should not exceed 60 days. The student's final grade must be entered by the instructor in the grade book within 5 days after the end of the course extension. The instructor must also notify the Course Registration Team of the student's final grade by email to register@excelsior.edu If a student receives an extension and fails to complete the course, a final grade of "F" will be assigned. No extensions will be granted for INL 102. If students have not completed INL 102 by the end of the term, they will need to retake the course or seek alternate course approval from their academic advisor. | |
