Course Registration FAQ
Active duty military service members may register for courses online. Please have the control number from your completed Tuition Assistance form on hand, because you will need this to complete the online registration process.
You will need to mail, fax, or email a scanned copy of the Tuition Assistance form to Excelsior College within four calendar days in order to complete your course registration. Your registration will be voided if the completed Tuition Assistance form is not received within four calendar days.
Note: If you are in the military and choose to self-pay for your course tuition using a credit card, you may register for your courses online. However, you will not be eligible to receive Tuition Assistance reimbursement from the military for any course you choose to self-pay for.
My Course and Exam Approvals on MyExcelsior will show you if your advisor has approved a requested course or exam.
Only Course Approvals which you request through MyExcelsior will appear on the My Course Approvals page. Requests made via the telephone may not appear in your online account unless you request your advisor to make them available on the Web.
CD-ROM courses let you study when and where you like. These courses require computer access, but an Internet connection is not needed. Courses provided on CD-ROMs are especially well-suited for independent learners and for students who don't have consistent access to the Web. Assignments can be submitted to instructors by fax, email, or overnight or standard mail as long as they arrive within each module's deadline. You may work with your instructor to establish an alternative schedule if needed.
Online courses provide an experience that is most like traditional education. Your virtual classroom will include other students, group activities, and plenty of student-faculty interaction as well. The weekly assignments will help you stay focused on the course work while you benefit from interaction with your peers.
Both enrolled students and non-matriculated (non-enrolled) students are eligible for online course registration.
Once you register for a course, you will see a link to your course under My Online Courses and Learning Aids section from MyExcelsior. Clicking the link for your online course will sign you into your course homepage. CD-ROM courses will not be active links, as there is no online component required for the course.
Note that you will not be able to log in to your course until the start of the term.
