Excelsior College® Examinations

Step 1: Registration
You can register and pay for your exam online, or by phone at (888) 72EXAMS (723-9267). Use your Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover card to pay exam registration fees.

Step 2: Scheduling
After you register, you will receive an Authorization To Test (ATT) letter. You will have six months from the date of that letter to schedule and take your exam at the Pearson VUE Test Center of your choice.

Excelsior College® Examinations (ECEs) and UExcel® schedule their exams differently. Follow the scheduling process that pertains to you.

ECEs

After you register for an exam we will send you an Authorization To Test (ATT) letter.

You then have up to six months to schedule and take your test through Pearson VUE.

Schedule ECEs with Pearson VUE

  1. Receive your ATT from us.
  2. Locate a test center convenient to you on the Pearson VUE Web site.
  3. Create a Web account with Pearson VUE. You will receive your account username and password via email within 24 hours.
  4. After you receive your Pearson VUE username and password, schedule your test at a Pearson VUE Test Center.

UExcel

Schedule your UExcel exam during the UExcel exam registration process.

Taking the CPNE®?

The Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination is not administered through Pearson VUE. A date and location will be scheduled for the CPNE after you apply to take the exam.

Overseas Testing
Excelsior College Examinations are administered internationally at select Pearson VUE Test Centers. You need not be an enrolled student in an Excelsior College degree program (unless you are pursuing an associate degree in nursing) to take an examination at a Pearson VUE Test Center.

CPNE® Exam Takers

The Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination (CPNE) is required of all enrolled associate degree nursing program students. Once you become CPNE-eligible through the program, a CPNE study guide will be sent to you and you may fill out an application to take the CPNE.

FCCA® Exam Takers

The Focused Clinical Competencies Assessment (FCCA) is required of all enrolled associate degree nursing program students. Once you become FCCA-eligible through the program, a FCCA study guide will be sent to you and you may fill out an application to take the FCCA.
