Required Records

You can save time and avoid delays by qualifying with the Veterans Administration (VA) at the same time you apply to Excelsior College.

To qualify with the VA:

  • Obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA by filing VA form 22-1990, listing Excelsior College as your parent school. Visit the VA GI Bill Web site for details and forms.
  • Fax a copy of your COE to the Excelsior College financial aid/veterans affairs office at 518-464-8777. NOTE: This is required, but if you have not yet received a requested COE from the Veterans Administration, you may still submit your unofficial DD 214 to get started.
  • If you have used your benefits previously at another institution, file VA form 22-1995 (change of school form), listing Excelsior as your parent school.

Veterans with Post-9/11 benefits will receive enrollment fee, annual fee, and graduation fee coverage ranging between 40% and 100% of the maximum amount payable, depending upon the length of their post 9/11 service. Check the VA GI Bill Web site for program-specific details.

With your application, you must submit appropriate transcripts and documents (find your branch in the list below). You may also submit an official DD 214, certified by a County Clerk or VA Office and submitted in a sealed envelope from the certifying officer.
