| Employed as: | | Director of Academic Operations, Excelsior College | |
Although Emilsen had completed more than 200 credits for a bachelor’s program in fashion design and business administration when she moved to the United States from her native country of Colombia, she quickly realized that if she wanted to succeed in this country, she would have to start all over again with her education. “My degrees didn’t fulfill the requirements for an American education.” An advisor from the State University of New York told her about Excelsior. “With the number of credits I had from my country and community college classes, I could go for my bachelor’s degree to Excelsior College."
Flexible
Emilsen enrolled and was informed by an academic advisor that based on her transcripts she needed only sixteen credits to complete a bachelor’s degree with Excelsior. “And the best part was that the College offered alternatives to complete those credits. I earned four credits through online classes, six credits by CD-ROM courses, and ended my last six credits with two Excelsior College exams.” After completing her bachelor’s degree, Emilsen enrolled in the Excelsior MBA program, which she completed in April, 2010. “Excelsior was the perfect match to my busy life and my need for professional development."
