Practice Exam FAQ

Be sure to read through our practice exams FAQ as well as the exam information below.

How do I register for an exam?

First, visit MyExcelsior to create your own free account. Once you have created an account, you can register online for an exam. You may also register by calling toll free, 888-723-9267.

What's the difference between registering for an exam and scheduling an exam?

You must register for an exam first. Once you have registered for your examination(s) through Excelsior College, you will receive an Authorization To Test (ATT) letter. After you receive this letter, you can schedule your testing appointment electronically through the Pearson VUE Web site.

Visit the Pearson VUE's Test Center Locator for 24-hour access to information about testing centers including addresses, telephone numbers, and printable directions. You can also schedule an appointment to test on the same Web site.

Where do I find the content guide for an exam?

The content guide can be downloaded.  You can find the content guide for a particular exam on its detail page with other specific exam information or on the Exam Content Guides and Documentation page.

What happens if I am not successful when I take the credit-bearing exam?

You may take the exam a total of four times, but no more than three times within a one year period. The waiting time between attempts is 60 days after the first exam and 120 days after the second and subsequent attempts. You will need to register for each retaking of the exam.

Exam to be Discontinued

The Maternity Nursing exam will not be available after June 30, 2012.
