Focused Clinical Competencies Assessment® (FCCA®)
The Focused Clinical Competencies Assessment® (FCCA®) is a computer-delivered simulated clinical assessment that serves as a transition from the nursing theory exams/courses to the Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination (CPNE®). The FCCA® provides the opportunity for students to demonstrate their ability to apply nursing knowledge and make nursing judgments about patient care.
The FCCA® is delivered through the Excelsior College Learning Management System as 2 separate 8-week online assessments:
- FCCA® #274A: Head-to-Toe Assessment and Nursing Process
- FCCA® #274C: Managing Multiple Patients / Working with Interdisciplinary Teams.
The FCCA® is not a course and its purpose is not to teach. Students complete each online assessment independently. Collaboration is not permitted.
Students are eligible to take the FCCA® when they have successfully completed 21 of the required 31 credits in general education and all 8 nursing theory examinations/courses.
You will be contacted about registration and receive access to The FCCA® Review Guide through MyExcelsior upon becoming FCCA®-eligible.
