Biography

A tenured associate professor, Gloria Gelmann has been teaching at Seton Hall University since 1978. From 1985 to 1987, she also served as assistant dean and budget director for the Seton Hall University College of Nursing. Since 1991, Dr. Gelmann has been a member of the University Budget Committee and is currently the chair of the Committee on Diversity. She served as a consultant and member of the nursing faculty committee at Excelsior College from 1989 to 2002, when she joined the College’s board of trustees. She has also served as a consultant to other institutions including Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey; the University of Massachusetts; and the People’s Republic of China Shanghai Public Health Bureau, where she planned a baccalaureate program in nursing. Dr. Gelmann has published extensively and has received numerous awards throughout her career.

Dedicated to serving the greater community, she is currently involved in planning education programs for the Patch Program for Mothers in the Essex County Jail. She is also a member of the board of trustees for the West Orange Community House, an expert witness for the New Jersey State Nurses Association, and was recently reappointed by the Governor of New Jersey to serve on the New Jersey State Board of Public Welfare.
