John Wetsch previously served as the program director for the North Carolina Window of Information on Student Education (NC WISE) program for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, where he manages the $200-plus million initiative by the state of North Carolina to overhaul the student information IT infrastructure of its public school system. Prior to this position, Dr. Wetsch was employed by Northrop Grumman Information Technology for 15 years. He has worked as a systems engineer, project manager, and program manager.
Listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Dr. Wetsch was honored by Pope Benedict XVI by being named Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great, Civil Division, and he was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by the governor of that state. The author of several publications, he is also active in industry associations.
Dr. Wetsch served on the adjunct faculty at North Carolina Wesleyan College and has taught for North Carolina State University, University of Phoenix, Capella University, Wake Technical Community College, and Lake Region State College.
A 1984 graduate of the College, he served as the first president of the Excelsior College Alumni Advisory Board and ex officio member of the Excelsior College Board of Trustees. He was elected to full membership on the trustee board in 2001.
Currently Dr. Wetsch is the IT Director, Application Service Delivery for the North Carolina Department of Revenue Raleigh.
