Dr. Laurie Nagelsmith is associate dean of the School of Nursing, providing leadership and coordination within the nursing degree programs. She also manages the College's interactions with state boards of nursing and legislators in matters relevant to professional nursing practice in all 50 states. She works collaboratively on nursing education issues and with the outside professional community to assure alignment between statutes, regulations, and Excelsior College degree programs and other educational initiatives.
She also advocates for Excelsior’s associate degree nursing programs within the context of nursing trends, nursing education, the health care industry, and licensing regulations from state to state. She continually explores new options for meeting regulatory requirements and coordinating state-specific clinical experiences. She also represents Excelsior at national and state regulatory meetings and legislative hearings.
