Learn to manage and resolve workplace conflicts with an online Master of Science in Management with concentration in Mediation and Arbitration from Excelsior College, a respected pioneer in higher education that's been helping adults earn degrees for more than 40 years.

Due to the growing domestic and international demand for alternative dispute resolution (ADR), organizations around the world now use mediation and conflict resolution practices in the workplace. If you want to move into a position in which you can apply expertise to resolve conflicts in the workplace as you manage programs, budgets, and personnel, the Master of Science in Management with concentration in Mediation and Arbitration is for you.

This graduate degree will provide you with conflict management expertise that will enable you to anticipate and address key challenges in your organization. Gain skills in force-field and gap analysis, understand the human and economic factors involved in restructuring, become an effective communicator, and prepare to manage conflicts in a productive manner.

The concentration in mediation and arbitration is earned by completing the following online courses based on the Mediation Without Borders Institute curriculum. • Mediation: Employ directive, facilitative, and relational methods to mediate, negotiate, and conquer conflict in almost any situation. Learn how power, gender, and culture inform interventions, and how to use questioning, reflecting, and reframing.
  • Workplace Conflict Resolution: Overview of workplace conflict and its costs, mediation in practice, informal and formal arbitration practices, and civil rights, sexual harassment, and disability disputes. Cross-cultural and multi-party issues.
  • Arbitration: History of arbitration and issues of jurisdiction; contract analysis; rules of evidence; hearing procedures; award determination; potential remedies; grounds for challenging an award; appeal and judicial review.

This online master's degree is well suited to students with a Bachelor of Science in Business or Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business and Management degree, as well as military servicemembers who desire a graduate degree in management, pursue a career in management or consulting, and earn a specialization in mediation and arbitration.
