Daniel L. Coberly
|Degrees:||AS '77, BS '84|
A two-time graduate of Excelsior, Dan earned an associate degree in 1977 followed by a bachelor of science degree in 1984. He also earned a master's degree in communication from Norwich University and has completed advanced communications graduate theory and research training at Oklahoma University.
As a young Army sergeant, Dan found Excelsior to be a cost effective way to earn an accredited four-year degree. His degree quickly opened doors to early promotions, a direct commission, and special assignments. Dan has written more than 100 news and feature articles on controversial subjects such as child abuse, violence in military families, and women in the military. He retired from active military service as a senior Army public affairs Sergeant Major with a rare concurrent commissioned rank of Army Captain. He is currently a senior national communications advisor for the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Research and Development. The recipient of numerous awards, Dan is enjoying a 40-year career as an award-winning strategic communicator. His highest military awards include the Legion of Merit, and in 2014 he was inducted into the U.S. Army Public Affairs Hall of Fame.
