Project Management 101
Monday, September 25, 2017
Noon – 1:00 pm ET
Join Alumni Leadership Council member J. Kane Tomlin, special programs administrator for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and head of the Project Management Office, for a fundamental introduction to one of the fastest growing career fields in the world. Project Management is a skill that can be applied to almost any profession, as it is a cognitive process that ensures delivery of a product or service in the shortest amount of time and lowest cost, regardless of complexity. It is used to build multi-billion dollar facilities, design and deliver training curriculum, or even make a pot of coffee! According to the Project Management Institute, double-digit growth (more than 12 percent) is expected for project management professionals between 2010 and 2020. Learn more about Kane online.

Volunteer Opportunity: Tri-City Veteran Stand-Down (Latham, NY)
Saturday, October 14, 2017
7:00 am – 1:00 pm
Colonie BPR Elks #2192, 11 Elks Lane, Latham, NY
Excelsior is supporting the upcoming Tri-City Veteran Stand-Down, in cooperation with the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces Division. Alumni are invited to join employees of the College in helping with activities such as:
- Serving breakfast or lunch
- Assisting veterans with mobility issues
Stand-Downs in the military are traditionally designed as a respite from combat when troops are brought in to a safe haven for a period of rest. The Tri-City "Stand-Down" aims to offer a similar respite from the hardships that many veterans unfortunately face in their day-to-day lives as civilians, including joblessness, physical and mental ailments, and homelessness. This event provides services such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services. Questions? Contact the Office of Alumni Affairs.
