Jeffrey's Story

Dr. Jeffrey T. Stewart of Jersey City, New Jersey, graduated from Excelsior (then Regents) College in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts degree. He is an assistant professor at the New Jersey Dental School and a practicing endodontist.

“I earned a Regents College degree that allowed me to get a job that I would otherwise not have been able to get,” explained Dr. Stewart. “I was then able to move through the chapters of my life to the point at which I am now.”

Formerly, Dr. Stewart was an immigration agent with the U.S. Department of Justice and a special agent with the Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Recently, as an endodontist, he received a merit award from Dentsply International in 2007, was included in America’s Top Dentists magazine in 2009 and 2010, and acknowledged by the American Association of Endodontists for his outstanding achievements in the field.

In addition to his Excelsior (Regents) degree, Stewart completed a Bachelor of Arts in applied mathematics from Drew University and a Master’s of Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Most recently, he completed a Doctorate of Dental Medicine as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Dental School.

Stewart’s professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, the American Dental Education Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the American Association of Endodontists. He has published his research in the Journal of Endodontics and the International Endodontic Journal while continuing research for publication in three more distinct areas. He has also presented his research at the 2008 and 2009 annual meetings for the American Association of Endodontists and gave a university-wide lecture at the New Jersey Dental School.

His community involvement includes service on multiple committees at the New Jersey Dental School, volunteerism with the American Heart Association, the 9/11 Victim Assistance program with Safe Horizon, Inc., the New Jersey Medical Reserve Corps, and the Police Benevolent Association with the New York State Troopers.
