Wayne A. Oppel
Since earning his bachelor’s degree from Excelsior, Wayne has completed two master’s degrees from Webster University, a doctorate in strategic leadership from Regent University, and a doctorate of organizational management from Capella University. Before becoming an adult learner Wayne served for 24 years in the U.S. Navy, during which he earned the Navy Achievement Medal twice, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. He retired as Master Chief Petty Officer in 1992. Wayne currently heads the OPPEL Leadership Consulting Group and is a part-time faculty member for Capella University and an adjunct faculty member for Mountain State University and Indiana Wesleyan University. In 2007, he was named Outstanding Community Volunteer by The Volunteer Center in Greensboro, NC, and received a letter of appreciation from North Carolina Governor Michael F. Easley for his community involvement. In 2008, Wayne was the recipient of the Excelsior College C. Wayne Williams Award in recognition of outstanding public service and community involvement.
