For those who successfully pass the CPP exam, 15 college level credit hours can be transferred into an Excelsior College undergraduate degree program.  

Are you new to the payroll industry and looking to develop your marketable skills? Or have you been working in the payroll area for a while but still need to enhance your knowledge base with a goal of becoming certified? Then Payroll Practice and Management: PayTrain Fundamentals and Mastery Program is right for you.

Excelsior College offers this two course program that will prepare you for the American Payroll Association’s two professional certification designation exams, the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certification. The program is designed to increase your knowledge of payroll compliance from a basic understanding to an advanced level and prepare you to sit for the national exams. (Students are required to register for the program which consists of both courses.)

PayTrain Fundamentals teaches the fundamental payroll calculations and applications necessary for individuals who are new to the payroll industry, those who support the payroll industry, and those who are preparing for the FPC or CPP certification examinations. This part of the program will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills required to maintain payroll compliance and prevent costly penalties.

PayTrain Mastery is a continuation of PayTrain Fundamentals and provides students with an in-depth understanding of the advanced payroll topics necessary for payroll managers and supervisors. This part of the program is ideal for experienced payroll professionals seeking compliance training, professional development, or CPP certification preparation. Together, the two parts of the program offer the knowledge and skills necessary to sit for the FPC and CPP exams.

Upon successful completion of the two course program, students will receive a certificate of completion from Excelsior College. The Excelsior College program is also approved for VA Benefits.

The purpose of the PayTrain Fundamentals and Mastery Program:

1. Provide basic and advanced skills for those in or about to begin work in the payroll industry.
2. Prepare students to sit for the Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC) and Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) examination.

Prerequisites:

Students should be proficient in keyboarding, have a basic understanding of a word processing computer program (Microsoft Word is recommended), and have a good command of English grammar and punctuation. No payroll or office work experience is required.

PC Requirements/Materials Included:

This course is compatible with the Windows Vista operating system.
Students will need to have access to a word processing program like Microsoft Word or Works and a free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. You will also need unlimited Internet access.

The materials required for the course will be mailed to the student upon registration.
