Program Outome 1, Program Outcome 2, Program Outcome 6, and Program Outcome 7:

In the capstone course HSC 464, students are required to analyze a case study pertinent to their specialized knowledge area. The analysis includes: a brief summary, identification of major problems and their relevant importance, an analysis of the legal, ethical and/or policy issues, and a detailed approach for resolving the problems identified, including rationales for the approach selected and an analysis of the evidence that guided the decision-making.

In the course HSC 320, Health Care Issues in Culturally Diverse Populations, students are required to write a paper identifying a cultural group to include demographics, beliefs, rituals, health care practices and health issues; research health care services currently meeting the needs of the chosen group; create an ideal system exemplifying culturally competent health care for the chosen group.

In the course HSC 445, Introduction to Health Care Informatics, student are required to write a paper identifying an issue related to the electronic health record to include scope, boundaries, background, outcomes, and stakeholders; course of action that addresses the concerns of the stakeholders as they relate to the issue; description of implementation of the course of action and strategy for evaluation.

In the course HSC 310, Writing and Communication in the Health Science Professions, students are required to write a detailed memo, development plan or report of which is submitted to SmartThinking; incorporation of the feedback received from SmartThinking is required for the final piece.
