(August 15, 2011) – As part of its continuing effort to develop the educational and professional credentials of its workforce, Entergy has expanded its educational partnership with Excelsior College. The agreement will allow the company’s employees throughout the country to pursue associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees at reduced tuition rates. “Although employees and spouses will be able to pursue degree paths in any area of study, this is a collaboration with an eye for developing future employees for the U.S. nuclear power industry,” said Excelsior College President Dr. John F. Ebersole. “For Entergy the benefits are a stronger, more educated workforce, and a boost to their recruitment and retention efforts.” Under the new partnership agreement, Entergy’s employees and spouses will be able to pursue degrees from any of Excelsior’s programs in all of its four schools: Business & Technology, Liberal Arts, Health Sciences, and Nursing. The prior agreement between Entergy and Excelsior was limited to Excelsior’s accredited bachelor’s program in nuclear engineering technology. In addition, Entergy employees can receive credit for successful completion of GPiLearn online power plant technology training as well as standardized training programs that have been accredited by the National Academy for Nuclear Training (NANT). The educational partnership offers Entergy employees an opportunity to continue their education, earn their degree, and participate in specialized non-credit professional development programs, which will help Entergy recruit and retain a quality workforce.
