| « Back Excelsior College MBA Program Introduces Concentrations in Social Media Management and Human Resource ManagementALBANY, N.Y. (January 11, 2012) – Excelsior College today announced two new concentrations within its MBA program: Social Media Management and Human Resource Management. Enrollment opens in February for individual courses within each concentration, both of which will be offered beginning in March 2012. "In the midst of a rough economic climate, an increasing number of businesses are looking for leaders who can not only effectively manage and develop a workforce, but who can harness the power of emerging social technology as a business tool," said Dr. Jane LeClair, dean of Excelsior College's School of Business and Technology. "While human resource management is a traditional skill set and social media a more recent phenomenon, both require an ability to understand and effectively communicate with customers, employees, and clients. We've developed a curriculum for each concentration that sets a foundation for future business leadership." The Social Media Management concentration will teach students the skills they need to build Web communities, create and market online brands, provide customer service, and craft engaging Web content. In addition, students will learn to apply various best practices to develop online campaigns and monitor and measure social media engagement. The Human Resource Management concentration is intended to develop human resource managers with the knowledge and ability to administer staffing, employee development, labor relations, conflict resolution, compensation, and benefits. The concentration blends contemporary theories with successful application of key functions expected of leaders in the human resource field. These new concentrations complement the general Excelsior College MBA and the five existing MBA concentrations that include Leadership, Technology Management, Information Security, Cybersecurity Management, and Human Performance Technology Management.
