Tech Collaboration Eyes Energy Industry Labor Pipeline

By Mike Lesczinski, Excelsior Life News Staff

With technical industries placing a far greater emphasis on hiring graduates of four-year technical programs, the Energy Providers Coalition for Education (EPCE) and Excelsior College announced this month a collaboration on a new degree program aimed at creating a strong technology industry labor pipeline.

Through the existing agreement, Excelsior and EPCE have worked together to reengineer its Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology to include concentrations in nanotechnology and power systems. The degree, which is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, will consist of 124 credits.

The program aimed to provide preparation for students interested in employment in various aspects of the power industry and enable them to pursue careers in avionics, power or even electronic manufacturing.
