· In Excelsior’s program, one does need to be working in the health care field, such as working as an LPN or Paramedic. If you do not have a health care license, then you would have two choices. Work toward becoming a licensed practical nurse, and then apply to Excelsior College to complete our Associate Degree in nursing or apply to a local community college for their Associate Degree in nursing. Either way, you could achieve your goal of becoming a nurse.
