Associate Degree Nursing Programs: A Solid Foundation for Baccalaureate Education (Part 2)
By Caroline K. Mosca PhD, RN
(continued from Part 1)
Online baccalaureate nursing programs offer the working nurse an opportunity to complete a baccalaureate degree program in a user-friendly fashion. Nurses can work from the comfort of their own homes and still meet family, work, and other life obligations. Like the post- war associate degree programs, online programs transcend geographical boundaries, making a baccalaureate nursing education available to all students, regardless of zip code. At Excelsior College, we offer a solid foundation for entry into practice in our associate degree program, but also provide the opportunity for an immediate and seamless transition into online baccalaureate education. Should a student be interested in advanced practice nursing, there are opportunities under the same virtual roof to pursue master’s degrees in different specialties.
Recently, a graduate of Excelsior College demonstrated that the path to success sometimes starts with a solid associate degree education. We are pleased to recognize Mirriam Russom, a recent recipient of the prestigious Daisy Award. Mirriam is a graduate of the associate, baccalaureate, and master’s programs at Excelsior College. The Daisy Award is given to nurses who provide exemplary nursing care, and it is an incredible honor to receive it. Mirriam is a true example of a nurse who used her associate degree education as a strong foundation to advance her practice. You can read more about her story here.
We are honored that Excelsior College played a role in Mirriam’s professional growth. Moreover, we celebrate the thousands of students who come through our virtual doors every day and leave with the skills to attain their dreams. Every journey must start somewhere, and wherever you are in your nursing education and career, we are pleased to help guide you on the path to professional success.
