Excelsior College will hold Excelsior Cares Volunteer Week April 4 to 8
In advance of National Volunteer Week, celebrated April 10 – 16, Excelsior College will hold Excelsior Cares Volunteer Week from Monday, April 4 to Friday, April 8. More than 65 College employees will volunteer their time throughout the workday to assist with Capital Region community projects at seven different locations.
Excelsior College, voted as one of the top workplaces in the Capital Region by multiple publications, provides each of its 554 local employees 15 hours of paid time off each year for community-based volunteer opportunities during the workday.
Employees participating in this year’s Capital Region Excelsior Cares Volunteer Week will provide a variety of services to local nonprofit organizations, including painting, office work, collections, and organizational services. In addition, The College’s Community Service Committee will raise funds to support future disaster relief efforts both locally and globally.
The Excelsior Cares campaign serves to expand the College’s mission of service to the underserved by assisting with the critical needs of the community via shared time (volunteerism), shared talent (skills), and shared treasure (financial contributions). The community relations initiatives focus projects which align with College values, including health and wellness, lifelong education, diversity and inclusion, veterans/military, and social and economic justice.
In addition, on Wednesday, April 6, Paula Gabris, within Excelsior College’s School of Nursing, will receive the 2016 Impact Volunteer of the Year Award by The Stakeholders at the Franklin Plaza, in Troy, NY.
