The UExcel Introduction to Sociology examination measures knowledge and understanding of the material and skills typically taught in a one-semester, three-credit, lower-level undergraduate (survey) course. The examination content reflects common knowledge drawn from courses with such titles as Introduction to Sociology or General Sociology. The examination measures knowledge of facts and terminology, understanding of concepts such as the perspective of sociology, social foundations, differentiation, inequality, and the ability to apply this knowledge to everyday life examples. No prior knowledge or understanding of sociology is assumed. (Multiple-choice examination)

Register for the Exam
You can register and pay for your exam online. After you register, you will receive an Authorization to Test letter. You'll need to select the 8- or 15-week term in which you'll take your exam.
