The UExcel World Population examination corresponds to a one-semester, three-credit, upper-level course in world population offered in a department of sociology or geography. The examination measures knowledge and understanding of interrelationships among human populations, society, and the environment, including demography, fertility, mortality, migration, urbanization; the ability to demonstrate interpretive skill, including the analysis of tabular, graphic, and case study information, the future of world population, and the ability to apply critical thinking. The examination assumes a familiarity with concepts generally covered in college-level statistics and a basic knowledge of sociology, geography, and economics. (Multiple-choice examination)

A practice exam is available for $35: To register for a practice exam, visit www.excelsior.edu and log into your MyExcelsior account. You must be registered for the corresponding credit-bearing exam first before you can register for the practice exam.
Register for the Exam
You can register and pay for your exam online. After you register, you will receive an Authorization to Test letter. You'll need to select the 8- or 15-week term in which you'll take your exam.
Pearson charges a test administration fee when you schedule your appointment to test. Additional fees apply for phone transactions (scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling). Visit the Pearson website for the current fee structure.
