Reporting to the Executive Director of Academic Operations, this position works in close collaboration with the Associate Deans and Faculty Program Directors (FPDs) to provide oversight and coordination of all matters that foster excellent quality of academic programs and online courses, the effective delivery of these programs and courses by adjunct faculty, and a student-centered learning experience. This individual is responsible for the management of the course development process for the School of Undergraduate Studies (SUS). The position is a hybrid position with two days on site in Albany, NY and three days working remotely. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Supervise, in partnership with the SUS Executive Director of Academic Operations, the Senior Online Program Assistants and Online Assistant– key focus is on assisting with directing daily work activities and being a resource for day-to-day team operations-related as well as individual questions.
  • Manage the course development process including revisions through development of timelines, identification of resources and scheduling.
  • Represents the SUS on academic technology committees and in technology initiatives across the college.
  • Serve as a backup to the Executive Director of Academic Operations and other SUS leadership in providing team leadership support.
  • Work collaboratively with Subject Matter Experts, Faculty Program Directors and Learning Experience Designers to create innovative and engaging online course content.
  • Ensure consistency and compliance of quality and Accessibility standards within the courses.
  • Assist data-driven planning of course revisions by providing data points from course review process and end of term evaluation.
  • Participate in ongoing evaluation and quality improvement of course design.
  • Collaborate with FPDs, Assessment Office, Analytics and Decisions Support, and the Provost office to develop data driven training needs of instructional faculty.
  • Support content review of textbook edition updates
  • Participate in School of Undergraduate Studies and College‐wide committees and activities to support the College’s strategic plan.
  • Engage in quality improvement and student satisfaction and retention initiatives.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications: 
  • Earned Master’s Degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Distance/Online Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and build online courses.
  • Demonstrated Project management skills.
  • Strong technical skills and experience with educational technologies.
  • Understanding and appreciation of adult learning theory and best practices in distance education.
  • Exceptional organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills required and ability to work collaboratively with multiple constituents.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and detailed documents.
  • Strong empirical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
