The Assistant Director Veteran Benefits will be involved with the day to day operations on the veterans benefits team within the Student Financial Services. The Assistant Director will be a School Certifying Official (SCO) with primary responsibility for certifying benefits with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for communicating with students via phone, email and message center. This is a full-time hybrid role with a minimum of two required days at Excelsior's home office of 7 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY, with the remainder of the days worked from home.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Veterans Benefit School Certifying Official (SCO).
  • Providing student support via phone, email and message center.
  • Keep current on regulations related to veterans benefits.
  • Support the collection of required documentation and processing of forms related to veterans benefits.
  • Assist with developing, revising, and updating processes of the unit related to programs administered by the college.
  • Liaison with Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development along with the encouragement of the growth of colleagues.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the needs of the unit and the students we serve.

  • This position requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years experience working in higher education or a related field.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working with veteran students and demonstrate an interest in promoting distance learning higher education to a diverse adult student population.

    The hiring salary range for this position is $46,000.00 - $54,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
