Description

The Executive Director of Student Financial Services reports to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing and is part of the senior leadership team of the EM& Marketing unit.

This individual has oversight over directors within: financial aid, Bursar, one stop services, and Military and VA benefits. The Executive Director will support the overall mission of the institution and work collaboratively across units to achieve unit, departmental, and institutional goals through data driven decisions.

This individual is responsible for all reporting requirements for federal student aid (grants, scholarships and loans) , VA and active military benefits, state scholarship programs, private scholarship and loan programs, institutional scholarship administration and development, as well as provides guidance and support on all aspects of student accounting and services issues, independent audits for the annual FSA A133, including preparation and communication with auditors and the U.S. DOE.

The incumbent should have working understanding of administration of Federal Student Aid (FSA) programs, counseling of students, federal aid need analysis, satisfactory academic progress, aid packaging, loan origination disbursements and fiscal reconciliation. The incumbent develops and manages key performance indicators to make data driven decisions about the unit activities toward superior student support experience.

The Executive Director works in collaboration with the Vice President to establish the implement procedures needed to streamline processes to ensure compliance, efficiencies, student’s success, retention, satisfaction, and persistence.

They will work collaboratively with other members of EM team (Admission, Registrar, Advising, and Marketing) to promote increases in enrollment and course registration and improve the overall student experience through implementation of effective service best practices.

Minimum Qualifications
  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight years’ experience in a senior financial aid/enrollment management position at an accredited higher education institution.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with Power FAIDS financial aid management system and demonstrate an interest in promoting distance learning higher education to a diverse adult student population.
  • Strong collaborative management skills.
  • Proficiency with Customer Management Systems (e.g. Salesforce), Student Information Systems, Microsoft Word & Excel.

    **This is a full-time hybrid role with a minimum of two required days at Excelsior's home office of 7 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY, with the remainder of the days worked from home.**
