The IT Analyst will be part of a nimble team of professionals dedicated to delivering high quality project deliverables. The IT Analyst plays a vital role in helping to clarify and satisfy customer needs as well as consultation with a wide variety of users. This position works closely with Business Analysts, process owners, and IT leadership to conduct functional analysis, and document technical requirements and solutions. The IT Analyst will also identify areas for process improvement and work closely with all staff to prioritize multiple competing projects. The successful candidate will blend a strong technical acumen with exceptional communication and negotiation skills to work with a wide array of users with varying technical skills. The IT Analyst may also analyze or recommend commercially available software. This is a full-time, hybrid role with a minimum of two days required per week at Excelsior's home office in Albany, NY, with the remainder of the days worked from home.
Duties and Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree in information systems or related field
Two years’ experience in systems analysis work; OR five years of experience in systems analysis work; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.
Work closely with Business Analysts and users to identify business needs, elicit specifications and requirements, and collaborate with customers and ITS (Information Technology Services) team members to develop technical solutions.
Translate available business requirements into technical requirements.
Prepare technical specifications; review with customer, ITS leaders, and revise as needed; obtain sign off.
Provide analysis for projects involving systems design or redesign.
Serve as a customer liaison; represent the department as needed on project teams and working groups.
Document system processes, configurations, and changes
Manage multiple projects and assignments concurrently; meet established deadlines.
Communicate to management, ITS, and end-users in meaningful and understandable terms.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among diverse groups at all levels of the organization.
Serve as a resource and mentor for other team members.
Meet with ITS teams to determine level of effort estimate for larger initiatives as needed.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Experience translating business needs into formal technical requirements.
Experience creating functional and technical documentation.
Ability to communicate technically complex concepts in easy-to-understand terms.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with both technical and non-technical staff.
Experience establishing, documenting, and maintaining procedures and processes.
Experience with the concept of relational databases and complex data structures.
Knowledge of end user data manipulation tools
Knowledge of report creation tools
Strong organizational and time management skills
Exceptional communication skills and ability to interface with technical and non-technical personnel.
The hiring salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $78,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
