Reporting to the Executive Director of Academic Operations and the Course Management Coordinator - Team Lead, the Program Assistant plays a key role in the day to day support for Leadership, Faculty Program Directors, programs and students in the School of Undergraduate Studies. Responsibilities include operational and technical support for all courses offered through the School of Undergraduate Studies, including ensuring exceptional quality, ongoing maintenance of course master templates, quality assurance review of new and revised course templates, coordination with our online bookstore and Library, and student facing concerns. This position requires strong critical thinking skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines, and the ability to form strong working relationships with staff across the University. This is a full-time hybrid role with a minimum of two required days at Excelsior's home office of 7 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY, with the remainder of the days worked from home.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in course design and delivery, evaluation and reporting, and course revisions and maintenance.
  • Assist in implementing quality control components of online courses
  • Manage pre-term checklist process and make necessary fixes within master templates and term to term course sections.
  • Collect, sort and analyzed data based on the needs of university leadership to ensure quality online course offerings.
  • Assist faculty and students with questions on course navigation, educational technologies and maintenance of course content.
  • Collaborate with units across the university to ensure the seamless transition from term to term.
  • Maintain up to date inventory of textbooks, online resources and access codes
  • Maintain up to date inventory of courses, syllabi, course descriptions and educational technologies in courses and a continuous improvement plan for all courses on a regular schedule
  • Term to term Accommodation and external lab set up
  • Willing to learn new technologies
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

  • An earned associates degree from a regionally accredited institution required, bachelors degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years experience maintaining courses in an Learning Management System.
  • Experience working in Higher Education.
  • Excellent organizational skills, planning ability, attention to details, and initiative.
  • Sound judgment and confident decision-making.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to interact effectively and cooperatively with team members, faculty, staff and students.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and be accountable to established deadlines.
  • Function effectively as a team member.
  • Prepare and review accurate and detailed documents.
  • Computer literacy and willingness to learn additional software applications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
    The following qualifications are desirable:
  • Understanding of online education, pedagogy, best practices, assessment, and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software.
  • Ability to create multimedia content in online courses.
