The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that between now and the year 2024, paralegal and legal Studies are expected to grow by 8%. The median pay for paralegals in 2015 was $23.47 per hour, $48,810 per year.

AS in Paralegal: Credit Requirements

AS in Paralegal Studies Credit Requirements

The 60-credit Associate in Science in Paralegal Studies consists of 30 credits in the arts and sciences, and 24 credits in the legal studies requirements. The legal studies core requirement component is made up of six core courses, one legal studies elective, a 3-credit capstone, and six free elective credits.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the paralegal associate degree program, graduates will be able to:

  • Prepare effective legal documents and arguments through academically and professionally appropriate written discourse.
  • Perform legal research and communicate the results clearly and concisely utilizing logical arguments and analyzing other people's arguments.
  • Apply principles of legal ethics in a work environment taking the dynamics of diversity in our society and across cultures into consideration.
