Welcome to the
Center for Social Justice
About the Center for Social Justice
At Excelsior University, we believe that our strength as a community lies in valuing and leveraging our diversity of perspectives, experiences, knowledge, ideas, and skills. The Center for Social Justice focuses on lifting all voices and communities, regardful of their origin, context, culture, values, beliefs, interests, capacity, and development.
How We Define Social Justice:
We hold the fundamental belief that all people have the right to pursue economic, social, educational, and professional opportunity, that there is a shared responsibility to ensure that nothing stands in the way of that pursuit, and that this work stands on the four principles of equity, access, participation, and human rights.
Understanding JEDI
Leading and advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion within and beyond our communities.
Designing an ecosystem that gives all members of the community access to their full potential.
Celebrating the richness of our different identities, perspectives, and experiences.
Facilitating the authentic participation of diverse members of our communities.

Our Vision
We advance an inclusive and equitable society that provides access to education, lowers barriers to success, and creates opportunities for fulfillment and impact. We facilitate an inclusive, equitable, and just experience for all types of learners in their development as the next generation of leaders.
The Center for Social Justice procures its vision through:
- Its systematic facilitation of multi-perspective/experience learning, sharing, and dialogue.
- Strategic partnerships for community impact, thought leadership, and educational access.
Our Mission
Excelsior University’s Center for Social Justice aims to elevate Excelsior as a model that embraces diversity, challenges the status quo, and strives to create a just world through a focus on equity, access, participation, and human rights.
Our investment in social justice intends to create a platform for meaningful dialogue as an asset to the organization’s decision making and performance, an opportunity to enhance underprivileged students’ access to higher education, and a conduit for all students’ intercultural development.
