
Carrie Prior
Carrie Prior, EdD, is the dean of Excelsior University’s School of Technology, where she leads the strategic and operational direction of engineering and computer technologies programs, including ABET-accredited engineering technology and information technology degrees, as well as emerging areas in cybersecurity, sustainable energy, and robotics. Her leadership emphasizes the integration of industry alignment, social responsibility, and global relevance in technology and engineering education.
Before transitioning into technology education, Prior built a career in international education, serving as a senior international officer in both public and private institutions. She led global initiatives, developed cross-border partnerships, and expanded access to U.S. higher education for learners worldwide. A recognized thought leader in Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), she frequently presented and published on internationalization, strategic planning, and globally focused academic models.
Prior brings this global perspective into her work at Excelsior, ensuring that technology education is both internationally connected and responsive to societal needs. Her work advances the integration of ethics and societal impact into STEM education, reinforcing her commitment to developing globally minded, socially responsible leaders.
A 2019 Fulbright recipient, Prior holds a Doctor of Education in the design of learning environments from Rutgers University.
