Ruth Lown Turman

Ruth Lown Turman, of Columbia, South Carolina, is a senior sales operations manager for Optum Serve of United Health Group. Turman earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems in 1996 from Excelsior University (then Regents College). During her earlier connection to institution, she was an annual contributor and lifetime member of the Regents College Alumni Association. She has made many contributions to multiple Excelsior campaigns and is a member of the President's Circle and the Purple and Gold Society. Since reconnecting with the school in the past year, has planned annual contributions moving forward. Turman believes in Excelsior’s ongoing mission to provide higher educational opportunities to non-traditional students, and in giving back and paying it forward by supporting student scholarships. Through her work with the Alumni Leadership Council, she intends to help strengthen the recognition and reputation of Excelsior University degrees and provide the council with her unique insights into the University's rich heritage, the depth of its history, and the outstanding outlook for its future. Turman also earned an Associate of Arts from Temple College. She has been a member of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) since 2005 and is a life member as a Fellow, served on the International Board of Directors from 2013–2014, and served as promotions chair for the Florida Sunshine Chapter of APMP from 2015–2022.
