Description

The Homeland Security and Emergency Management capstone is the culmination of your undergraduate education. Upon completion of this course, you will have earned a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, a valuable degree in your ongoing professional development and service within the homeland security and emergency management community. You will reflect upon your prior coursework and further prepare yourself to lead private or public organizations at the local, state, and national levels as they plan for and respond to natural disasters, critical infrastructure attacks, or other threats and emergencies. You will expand upon and apply the research and critical thinking skills you have developed, including those in key phases of disaster management (mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery). By the end of the course and degree program, you will have used the all-hazards approach expertly in your work on protecting people, borders, ports, and other facilities or critical infrastructure.

Prerequisites

The Capstone must be the last course taken. All major core and university requirement courses must be complete. The capstone can be paired with 1 other course that is considered to be general education course (excluding courses to meet the Written English Requirement and the Ethics Requirement), a concentration course, elective, or lab course (even if the lab is in the major).
