Excelsior University Anti-Hazing Policy
At Excelsior University, we are committed to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students. Our Anti-Hazing Policy complies with the federal Stop Campus Hazing Act and aims to prevent any form of hazing within our community.
Definition of Hazing
Hazing is defined as any intentional, knowing, or reckless act committed by a person, individually or with others, against another person, regardless of their willingness to participate. This occurs during initiation into, affiliation with, or maintenance of membership in a student organization and causes or creates a risk of physical or psychological injury.
Prohibited Conduct
Examples of prohibited hazing activities include:
- Physical Abuse: Whipping, beating, or striking.
- Forced Consumption: Food, alcohol, drugs, or other substances.
- Deprivation: Sleep deprivation, exposure to elements, or confinement in a small space.
- Fear Induction: Activities causing fear of bodily harm through threats or conduct.
- Legal Violations: Any activity that violates local, state, tribal, or federal law.
Reporting Hazing Incidents
We encourage students and staff to report hazing incidents to campus security authorities or local police.
Annual Security Report
The university will compile and disclose statistics on reported hazing incidents beginning in the October 1, 2026, Annual Security Report (ASR).

Prevention Programs
Excelsior University is dedicated to preventing hazing through:
- Training: Implementing hazing prevention training for students and staff.
- Information: Publishing information related to the training and our anti-hazing policy.
Enforcement
Violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action, which may include suspension or expulsion from the university and referral to law enforcement.
Review and Updates
This policy will be reviewed regularly and updated as necessary to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.

The above identified CSAs will:
- Serve as a point of contact for students and employees regarding emergencies, crimes, and safety and security issues;
- Notify the proper University officials whenever the CSA is aware of a known or suspected crime on campus, public property, or on non-campus property as each is defined by the Clery Act; and
- Report or assist Excelsior University in the reporting of a crime or suspected crime to the local police department and cooperate with any resulting investigations.
Local Police: Report incidents to local law enforcement.
