Frequently Asked Questions

Some English language skills are needed. Through English as a second language (ESL) classes, Excelsior will provide curated instruction for those with beginner skills through to those who may be more advanced. Our program works to build from your starting point so you’re comfortable reading, writing, and speaking in English by the time you complete your degree.

In addition to the online courses you’ll take for your degree, there are seven levels of ESL courses to help you build your English proficiency. When you start the program, you’ll be given an assessment to gauge your English language ability level. This will help us start you with the ESL courses that are right for you.

At the end of each term, you’ll retake the assessment to see if you’re ready to move to the next ESL level. If you need additional time to pass the assessment, you’ll be able to reassess at approximately 30 days and again at around 60 days, if needed. If you do not level up after the 60-day extension, you will have to retake that level.

You’ll pay $510 per degree program course credit that you take. Read a complete guide to tuitions and fees.

Each ESL course costs $297. ESL courses are not eligible for discounts.
