NUR110 Transition to Professional Nursing Practice
Description
This introductory course explores the core competencies and professional values essential to the role of the Registered Professional Nurse. Students will examine the nursing process, patient education strategies, ethical principles, legal influences, and the scope of nursing practice. Emphasis is placed on developing a strong professional identity, integrating evidence-based practice, and fostering effective collaboration with interprofessional healthcare team members. The responsibilities of assignment, delegation, and supervision are addressed to prepare students for safe and effective clinical practice. The course also supports NCLEX success and ongoing professional development to equip learners for entry into professional nursing practice. Prerequisite(s) Completion of required nursing prerequisites, including coursework in: Written English Lifespan development psychology Sociology Anatomy and physiology Microbiology College-level mathematics
