NUR112 Foundations of Nursing Practice II
Description
This course emphasizes the application of the nursing process to develop nursing judgment and clinical decision-making in the delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care for individuals across the lifespan. Content focuses on common health problems related to nutrition, elimination, oxygenation, fluid and electrolyte balance, activity and mobility, sleep, and rest, integrating foundational knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support knowledge-based decisions and NCLEX-style clinical reasoning. Students participate in skills development and validation experiences, including intravenous therapy procedures, using simulation, skills modules, and video-based feedback to enhance psychomotor proficiency, reflective practice, and clinical confidence. Patient-centered care strategies are evaluated through structured learning activities and clinical scenarios designed to reinforce evidence-based nursing interventions and support safe, high-quality care across diverse healthcare settings. Prerequisite(s) Completion of required nursing prerequisites, including coursework in written English, lifespan development psychology, sociology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and college-level mathematics.
