International Non-Nursing Applicants

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Applicants from non-English-speaking countries must show evidence of English language proficiency through one of the following options:

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

  • Required minimum score of 525 on the paper based test or 69 on the Web-based test.
  • Scores older than 2 years at the time of your application to Excelsior will not be accepted.

MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery)

  • Required minimum score of 75.
  • Scores older than 2 years at the time of your application to Excelsior will not be accepted.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

  • Required minimum overall band score of 5.5.
  • Scores older than two years at the time of your application to Excelsior will not be accepted.

Completion of at least 9 credit hours of academic work

  • In courses delivered in English at an institution of higher education in the United States.

CREDIT TRANSFER FROM INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Excelsior University awards credit for degree-level coursework completed at a university that has been officially recognized as degree or diploma granting by the regulating agency for higher education in your home country. To submit a transcript:

Undergraduate programs: International credits for admission into all non-nursing undergraduate programs must be evaluated by Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc (ECE) and documented on their Subject Analysis Report.

Graduate programs: International students applying to an Excelsior University graduate program should have their transcripts evaluated by World Education Services (WES) to determine bachelor’s degree equivalence of three-year degrees and other foreign credentials.
