The content of the examination corresponds with introductory course offerings with titles like Earth Science, Physical Geology, Geoscience, Environmental Geoscience, or Earth-System Science. Topics include the internal structures of the earth, plate tectonics, the rock cycle, the hydrologic cycle, geological hazards, earth history, and energy resources.
