Reporting to the Director, Military Outreach and Veteran Partnerships, the Military and Veteran Partnership Specialist helps to implement the strategic direction for the continued recruitment and support of active military and veteran students and their families in the Florida region. With 51% of Excelsior’s current student population being active military or veterans, the university has vowed a strong commitment to educating our armed forces. The Specialist will be responsible for identifying and signing new Veteran partnerships to help grow enrollments and credit taking. Additionally, the Specialist will become a staple in the community, meeting with potential students, employers, local businesses, and non-governmental organizations to develop a strong community of students. Strong preference will be given to military veterans or those with ample experience working with active military. Additionally, the ideal candidate would possess a strong understanding of military and veteran educational benefits, have experience in or knowledge of higher education, and posses a master’s degree from a regionally accredited university (bachelor’s required).

This is a full-time (37.5hrs/wk.) position, requiring at least 2 days in Excelsior University's Florida office where the Specialist will meet with students, entertain potential applicants, and advise potential and existing students on educational benefits and degree pathways. Travel to surrounding bases and communities (less than 50%) may be necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating, executing, and supporting the team and university strategic plan, under the oversight of the Director of Military Outreach and Veteran Partnerships and in partnership with the site director of the Excelsior University St. Petersburg facility.
  • Maintain a robust student engagement portfolio during the in-office days, including hosting veteran students, counseling and advising prospective students, meeting with community members and local and regional employers, etc.
  • Actively seek opportunities to promote Excelsior and engage existing partners through relationship building, site visits, webinars, presentations, and other forms of outreach, engagement, and marketing with the focus of generating inquiries, enrollments, credit taking, and revenue.
  • Responsible for working with a designated portfolio of partners by identifying, developing, and executing engagement, outreach, and marketing initiatives with the goal of meeting inquiry, enrollment, credit taking, and revenue goals as driven by the university’s strategic goals.
  • Engage with partner contacts to identify and organize recruiting and engagement events, both face-to-face and virtual, such as education fairs, benefits fairs, transfer fairs, webinars, direct enrollment events, and other prospective student facing engagements.
  • Engage with partners and students via social media, newsletters, direct mail, email campaigns and/or other communication vehicles as per Excelsior guidelines and best practices.
  • Provide support to students and work collaboratively with Strategic Partnerships and Alliances team members and Excelsior staff, as necessary, to assist students through the admissions and advising pipeline.

    • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university.
    • At least 1 years' experience in a similar role, such as sales, account management, marketing, admissions, recruiting, or business development.
    • Willingness to work with multiple, diverse stakeholders across complex organizations and different populations and recognize opportunities for growth.
    • The drive for success in inquiry, enrollment, credit taking, and revenue generation and building successful partnership programs.
    • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
    •  Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
    • Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficient computer literacy and willingness to learn new applications, Knowledge of Microsoft Office products required. Knowledge of Salesforce and SharePoint a plus.
    • Ability to travel. Conference attendance, partner/student engagements, and off-site meetings will be required. Occasional weekend/evening hours and overnight travel.
    Preferred Qualification:
    • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
    • Experience working in or closely with higher education institutions.
    • A strong understanding of active military and veteran's educational benefits (i.e. GI Bill, Chapter 35 VA Benefits, etc.). A strong working knowledge of military structure and operations as well as an understanding of the unique needs of active and veteran military and their families.
    The hiring salary range for this position is $58,500.00 - $60,500.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
