Remote Part Time Faculty – Information Literacy Courses

Excelsior’s information literacy course equips students to find, evaluate, interpret, and use information legally, ethically, and effectively. This course provides a broad overview of information literacy concepts, including the differences between academic and popular research methods, finding and evaluating sources, reading sources critically, writing with sources, and safely navigating information networks such as the internet.

Instructors will teach asynchronously from an existing syllabus, utilizing pre-written learning materials and quizzes. The primary role of instructors is to support students in learning the materials covered each week by posting announcements, holding office hours, answering questions, posting in the discussions, and grading discussions. The quizzes and final exam are machine graded.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Implementing courses as designed by the University, including the completion of weekly tasks on a university-supplied checklist.
  • Posting video announcements each week explaining student tasks and expectations.
  • Holding virtual office hours each week.
  • Answering student questions in Canvas Messages and Q&A discussion forums.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Successful complete institution-sponsored training program.
  • Fulfill all requirements and adhere to all institution policies identified in the Excelsior University Clinical Faculty Handbook.
  • Work 2 non-consecutive weekends at a clinical site during an 8-week course term. The weekend consists of Friday (6 hours– 3 hours orientation, 3 hours patient care) & Saturday/Sunday clinical days (each 12 hours).
  • Remain present for the entire clinical day, adhering to the full duration of clinical hours indicated.
  • Plan and coordinate patient assignments for each student in the clinical group, consistent with the course and clinical objectives.
  • Demonstrate competency with nursing skills and associated technology (EHR, automated medication dispensing system, smart intravenous pumps, etc.)
  • Demonstrate familiarity with assigned clinical unit(s), facility policies and procedures; complete all facility required training.
  • Participate in pre- and post-clinical activities with assigned students within Canvas LMS.
  • Conduct synchronous Zoom sessions with students as indicated by the course.
  • Exhibit content and skill-based expertise when engaging with students; provide relevant evidence based professional examples pertinent to the topic.
  • Provide students with individualized feedback summarizing strengths and areas in need of improvement.
  • Complete individual clinical evaluation rubrics for each student in a timely manner.

Part-time Adjunct Clinical Instructor – Syracuse, New York

Part-time clinical instructors report to the Department Chair and communicate with the instructional faculty overseeing the course/content area they are teaching. Excelsior University provides fully developed courses with materials and activities to allow the faculty to focus on the students. Data Engineer

The Data Engineer is an integral part of the Information Technology Services department (ITS), reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence (BI). The role will be involved in efforts to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of data within the BI system that supports data processing and analysis needs.

​Interaction with stakeholders such as data governance workgroups, machine learning engineers, integration data pipeline builders, and BI developers is a key aspect of the role. The role involves designing, building, and maintaining test pipelines, data transformation or systems performance logs, and metadata or data catalogs. The Data Engineer is responsible for ensuring accurate and complete data collection, per business requirements, KPIs, and SLAs or SLOs. Gaining a thorough understanding of the data maintained in the enterprise data warehouse is mandatory. Advocating for data quality across teams is essential.

​This is a full-time role with at least two required days at the Excelsior home office in Albany, NY. The remaining days can be worked from home. The Data Reliability Engineer will play a significant role in shaping the data operations strategy and infrastructure of the University. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with data analysts, data governance workgroups, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of business workflows, processes, and events, and relate this understanding to how these are captured in transactional systems.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure data is clean and reliable.
  • Design and execute tests to validate data transformations, migrations, and storage within the data warehouse environment.
  • Identify any errors or inconsistencies in the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Write technical documentation and term definitions in the Data Governance Platform.
  • Implement data governance and ensure data integrity across all BI initiatives.
