About Rilwan Meeran
Rilwan Meeran is the vice president of Mission Impact Investing at American Student Assistance. The Mission Impact Investing program deepens ASA’s impact of education and career readiness by fostering innovation aimed at changing the way young people learn.
Meeran has spent 18 years in venture capital and private equity. During this span he has transacted deals across Latin America, Turkey, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States.
Prior to his current role, Meeran was the head of impact investing at MassMutual, where he created multiple programs that focused on impact allocations to funds and direct investments, as well as to diverse managers and entrepreneurs. He was also a managing director for Flat World Partners, where he analyzed and invested in global impact opportunities. In a previous role, Meeran initiated the first private equity fund for Haiti and the Dominican Republic. While director for Swicorp, he sourced, structured, and added value to investments in consumer-driven sectors in Asia, the Middle East, and Turkey.
Meeran is a frequent lecturer in MBA programs on investing with a focus on impact.
