About Richard Hannmann

In his role as chief financial officer for Excelsior University, Richard Hannmann helps lead and communicate Excelsior’s financial strategy, policy, and planning, including all financial, budgeting, treasury/cash management, and financial reporting and tracking, as well as investment management. He provides appropriate financial-related reports, recommendations, and analysis, including those related to the strategy and financial condition of Excelsior.

Hannmann is a skilled and experienced financial administrator with four decades of experience as a certified public accountant (CPA), certified information systems auditor, and certified government financial manager. Prior to joining Excelsior, he served as a partner at KPMG, a global professional service company and one of the “Big Four” auditors, where he led a 70-person unit delivering over $20 million in services to more than 100 clients. Hannmann also functioned as the lead audit partner for New York State with its 18 departments, more than 60 agencies and offices, and two university systems. He delivered IT audit support and Internal Control Over Financial Reporting and System and Organization Control engagements for many entities. He also was a lead audit executive on more than 200 financial statement examinations over a 20-year period for various organizations and in various industries.
