Providing academic instruction to degree, certificate, and non-degree learners, position responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development and oversight, committee work, and maintaining a program of scholarship, continued learning, and/or practice within their area of expertise and specialization. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge and expertise in electrical engineering technology demonstrated excellence in teaching online, and a passion for teaching adult learners.

Full-time faculty are expected to support department and school leadership in terms of recommendations on program and course design, the assessment of student learning in accordance with university, college, and program standards, and the execution of data-informed and high-quality learning experiences within courses.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach 10-12 courses (30-36 credits per year) and advance student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines, University standards, and external benchmarks of quality.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise through constructive and substantive involvement with student discussions/learning activities and sharing of expertise and experience.
  • Challenge students’ own thinking and form connections between theory and practice across disparate areas of knowledge in diverse settings, and among divergent viewpoints.
  • Participate in the coordinate the development and/or revision of courses, including serving as subject matter expert for course development projects, with a focus on data-informed continuous quality improvement.
  • Participate in developing, implementing, and analyzing student learning outcomes and utilize data to improve the quality of course, program, and student outcomes.
  • Adhere to all policies specified in the Faculty Handbook and serve as a model to other faculty. Comply with published University Policies and Procedures.
  • Serve on the appropriate University, College, departmental and professional society committees as directed by the Department Chair.
  • Attend Commencement (held in early July) and associated activities.
  • Contribute to professional development activities, both departmental and university wide.
  • Participate in activities supporting the University's strategic plan and the goals of the College.
  • Promote and coordinate student professional organizations.
  • Support community and industry relationships, including support for project partnerships and student opportunities.

    Qualifications
    • An earned doctorate or a master's degree (a master’s degree with significant, applied experience in industry will be considered or 18 hours of graduate-level learning in the discipline).
    • 3 years teaching experience; industry experience
    • Experience teaching in the field of electrical engineering technology, and other courses as assigned and in alignment with academic qualifications.
    • Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Commitment to Excelsior University's mission and CARES Credo.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Doctoral degree or ABD in electrical engineering technology or a related discipline .
    • Significant and documented industry experience (5+ years) across industry sectors preferred.
    • Experience and comfort teaching across multiple modalities and leveraging strengths of each to inform instructional practice.
    • Student-focused teaching that addresses the needs of adult learners.
    The hiring salary range for this position is $75,00.00 - $80,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
